The DCN Next Generation Discussion system has state-of-the-art design and ergonomics. It is designed to be extraordinarily flexible. Your system can be as large or small as required, with extra units simply plugged into existing ones in a ‘loop through’ configuration. There is also an extremely high level of compatibility with external systems.
The design of the DCN Next Generation Discussion plays a key rule in how people interact with each other; it is important to create an environment that encourages constructive dialogue. The DCN Next Generation offers a perfect mix of sophisticated looks and optimised performance. The layout of the sleek control panel has an instantly familiar feel. The application of advanced acoustical and display technology makes it easy to hear – and read – exactly what is going on. All of these elements put users at ease, and in control.
The DCN Discussion unit can be changed easily from a delegates unit into a chairman’s unit, allowing the chairperson the freedom to sit where he pleases. Two delegates are also able to share a microphone, enjoying high sound quality and an individual interpretation channel for each delegate. The unit also allows full scale voting. The DCN Discussion units work equally well as a desktop unit or built in. The units are available in light and dark base versions, with a variety of rims to match with any interior.
The DCN Next Generation system meets every requirement of modern conference management. Facilities include basic microphone management, delegate identification and registration, voting, information distribution and display, and extensive simultaneous interpretation. The DCN Next Generation is above all user-friendly. With the appropriate software modules, a single operator can control and monitor even the largest of conferences.
All delegate and chairman units feature the innovative flat panel loudspeaker that improves acoustic performance (up to 20kHz) and reduces feedback, resulting in outstanding speech intelligibility. The advanced digital technology delivers excellent audio performance with no loss in signal quality or level during transmission. The DCN Next Generation virtually eliminates problems associated with conventional systems, such as background noise, interference, distortion and cross talk.
Certain models also offer language channel selectors, ID card readers and a backlit graphical LCD screen that displays all the standard Windows characters – including complex European languages and icon based scripts such as Chinese and Japanese.
The Bosch DCN Next Generation brings the benefits of innovative digital technology to discussion, conference and congress systems. It is the first entirely digital system of its kind, and offers versatility, high audio quality and data transmission while providing complete control over conference proceedings. DCN Next Generation has low susceptibility to interference from mobile phones. Operation and installation is highly simplified. With modern, user-friendly control software and flexible management facilities for all types of conferences, it is suitable for events from small, informal gatherings up to international, multi-lingual conferences.
The DCN Next Generation is a conference control system that provides both the users and owners of assembly venues with a versatile means of fulfilling conference requirements. These may range from small gatherings without an operator or chairman to major international events requiring full conference control, interpretation, language distribution, electronic voting and delegate identification facilities.
The range of DCN Next Generation products includes conference units, simultaneous interpretation and language distribution equipment, application specific software modules, information provision and installation equipment. This is complemented by external equipment such as PC’s, monitors, booster amplifiers, loudspeakers and printers, all of which are easily integrated with the DCN Next Generation system.
Flush mount options are also offered within the DCN Next Generation range. The DCN Next Generation flush mount units incorporate the same functionality (except for the LCD screen) and performance benefits as the DCN Concentus consoles, while enabling tailor-made fixed installations to be built into tables and arm rests. Stylish and easy to work with, the flush mount units are simply combined in a strip and finished with matching end caps. The DCN Next Generation flush mount range and microphone received a prestigious iF product design award in 2005.
The modular design of the system enables the required facilities to be specified in any desired configuration, permitting a high degree of system flexibility. The system conforms to all the relevant ISO and IEC standards.
Fast, cost saving installation is an important benefit of the DCN Next Generation digital technology. Thin, flexible, twin coaxil cables and twin optical fibres carry all the systems digital signals, eliminating the need for costly and vulnerable multi-core cables used in conventional analogue installations. The cables and fibres are easily run through existing ducting and cable conduits. They can simultaneously carry up to 32 high-quality contribution channels and 32 high-quality distribution channels. Thus complex wiring through bulky ducting is a thing of the past!
A visual dimension not only generates interest and focuses attention, but also informs participants and observers who is speaking. The DCN Next Generation can automatically show an image of the current speaker on monitors or projection screens in the main hall, lobby, interpreters booths, breakout rooms, or anywhere else required. The speakers name and additional information can also appear on the screen. Camera control is automatic, so a constant operator is not required. Bosch AutoDome cameras are ideal for this application.
The DCN Next Generation system has comprehensive simultaneous interpretation and language distribution facilities that enable it to meet the demands of multi-lingual conferences.
All interpretation facilities are integrated into the basic system concept, with interpretations using the same digital trunk line cabling as all other system functions. It is relatively easy to integrate language facilities into existing DCN Next Generation systems.
The simultaneous interpretation system enables both direct and auto relay interpretation modes to cater for less familiar languages. Each interpreter desk has an output for the primary language and another for alternative languages.
The DCN Next Generation interpreter desk can accommodate up to 31 language channels, plus the original floor language, all with an audio bandwidth of 20 kHz. A maximum of six desks can be installed per interpreter booth. The interpreters desk can be used stand-alone or as part of a system.
There is also the Integrus infrared wireless system that distributes languages throughout the conference venue using infrared transmitters and radiators. Access is by means of personal infrared receivers with headphones. Integrus is connected via the optical network to the DCN Next Generation system to distribute all 32 languages with infrared digital technology that conforms to the IEC 60603 part 7. Infrared digital technology ensures maximum sound quality with signal-to-noise ratio of 80dB.
Audio logging, remote interpretation, transporting or distributing audio from one room to another room is possible over relatively long distances without loss via fibre optic cabling, by using audio expanders (analogue or digital) which are part of DCN Next Generation. There is a growing desire to build audio systems where signal processing and amplification components are distributed throughout a facility. Therefore DCN Next Generation interfaces easily with numerous systems and technologies for distributing uncompressed real-time digital audio over a network.
The DCN Next Generation incorporates standard parliamentary-style voting facilities. Using dedicated application software, the possibilities can be extended to include audience response, multiple choice and rating voting. Scripts are prepared in advance, allowing results to be instantly displayed on a video monitor or dedicated text display in the conference venue. The chairman or operator always has full control over starting, stopping and suspending voting.
Conference participants can register their presence by inserting an ID card into a card reader that is flush mounted, integrated into the Concentus unit, or located at the conference venue entrance. A push button on delegate units allows simple registration (without identification). It is also possible to specify that delegates may only make use of certain microphone or control functions if they possess an appropriate ID card or have entered an authorized PIN code.
